Hidropark avenue

Hidropark (or water recreation park) is an island, situated on the Dnieper River and connected with the center of Kiev with a rather dangerous bridge.

During summers there are a plenty of half-naked people with bottles of beer - these are chavs, and what about scents of burnt meat wafting abroad – these are shashlyki (specially prepared meat, like grill).

In autumn and winter these landscapes are perfect for Hollywood horror movies.

The place is deserted. All the entertainment institutions are closed and even unkempt.

BUT, if to move deeper into spinney, you can meet a madman, even a couple of them and BTW regardless of the season.

Enjoy Bunin dark avenues on this b&w shot.

BTW Bunin it the first Russian writer to win the Nobel Prize for Literature.

Sharovka village

The Kharkov region is a place of great contrasts.

Everything is not as it should be.

Either famous architects come from Nice to a small village Natalevka, а local church philter their hearts and afterwards they built the exact replica of it at home, or unique horse stables from the tsar times are discovered out of the blue. And then it turns out, that soil under these horse stables was not soil but a lead land. Sounds like hogwash? Actually, it’s not. This technique helped to form horses limbs.

Finally, the Sharovka village is a place with the unique architectural complex. Castles, greenhouses, interior gardens, stone bridges across numerous rivers, and arbors with cast iron fanciful patterns… now everything is deserted and forgotten. The best Silver Age poets (Russian Poetry) fancied spending long summer days there.

And with the advent of 90’s the main building was transformed into a special tuberculosis dispensary, patients still live there. That’s why, during a photo session, all these bring melancholy and some kind of paranoia. Lord forbid! They will cough.
